The Kirkwood Home crew has the years of experience and education to save your home! Kirkwood Home identified major rotting on a simple siding job. The rotting wood was a result of a poor siding job previously installed. By the time we found it, the rotting had attracted a colony of carpenter ants and would have caused a huge problem for the home owner. Kirkwood Home not only eliminated the carpenter ant problem, but has begun applied the Tyvek house wrap and installed the exterior siding.
Tyvek wrap repels water in the case water gets behind the siding to protect the wood. Tyvek wrap installed properly would have prevented our client’s extensive damage. We got there just in time!

Before jumping into a do-it-yourself or home remodeling project, there are things a homeowner should keep in mind. Often projects are started and before you know it you are in over your head. It’s important to know your limitations and knowing when to contact a professional when proceeding with your project. Another thing to keep in mind is why you are doing a remodel or facelift. People sometimes tend to put too much emphasis on increasing their home value, but for most of us we aren’t going to turn around and sell right away. The reason you really want change in your home is because you want to enjoy the comfort of your home now, and in the future.

As we get closer to spring, you may begin to do some long overdue household maintenance projects. One project that should be put on your list is to check out your water heater. For most people, the water heater is something that we don’t even acknowledge. We use hot water every day and don’t even plan on any annual maintenance. But with a couple annual maintenance checks, your water heater could be working more efficiently and be saving you a little money. In this article, How To Maintain A Water Heater, it shows you how to maintain your water heater, and explains why this should be done. Good luck!
